The two body segments are set with different cabochon gemstones: the head/thorax with a ruby and a citrine
Each one is set with a diamond-shaped amethyst - they have a particularly lovely pale hue - and four rose cut diamond points
completing the nautical theme

It was made in 13th Century Byzantium, modelled in bronze with an oval shaped head that features an intaglio carved scene possibly with a person and trees. It's wearable, although we wouldn't recommend prolonged exposure to water. Purchased as part of a set we have two more available elsewhere on the website.
