Namesake: Theodore Parker (1810 1860) was a transcendentalist, proponent of womens suffrage, and a significant figure in the abolitionist movement. Parker was friends with Emerson, Alcott, and Thoreau, and his words would later inspire speeches by Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr.
