Ladies’ Luncheon Brings Boaters Together

Thirteen women gathered at noon for this month’s Ladies’ Luncheon, and once again, the table was overflowing with good food and even better company.

Everyone brought something to share, creating quite the spread. The menu included lasagna, quiche, meatballs, chicken Alfredo, salmon pasta salad, ceviche, croissant sandwiches, cantaloupe salad, fruit salad, cherry turnovers, chocolate cake and so much more. There was definitely no chance of anyone leaving hungry!

But the Ladies’ Luncheon has become about much more than lunch. One of the best parts of the gathering is going around the table and having each woman introduce herself, share the name of her boat, and talk about where she has been and what her cruising plans are.

It’s a simple tradition, but it always seems to bring everyone together. Some are preparing to head off on their next adventure, some are staying awhile, and others are just beginning to figure out where the wind—or water—will take them next. Sharing those stories gives everyone a chance to learn a little more about the women they see around the docks and often discover just how much they have in common.

With 13 ladies, one incredible potluck and plenty of conversation, this month’s luncheon was another reminder that some of the best parts of marina life happen when everyone simply gathers around a table.
