Storm-season planning in Brunswick, Georgia
Hurricane haulout
& boat storage.
Advance enrollment connects professional haul-out, secure yard storage and clear storm instructions before the forecast starts the scramble.
Hurricane Haulout & Boat Storage
Safer ashore starts
long before landfall.
A boat in the water can be exposed to storm surge, moving docks, parted lines, chafe and neighboring vessels. For an eligible boat, professional haul-out can remove those particular risks and place the vessel in a controlled yard arrangement before conditions become unsafe.
Hauling out is not a guarantee against hurricane damage. Wind, flooding, debris, ground conditions and the way a vessel is supported still matter. That is why Brunswick Landing Marina pairs the lift with vessel review, professional blocking, yard placement and a plan made in advance.

What haul-out changes
Move the boat away from waterborne hazards.
Once ashore, the vessel is no longer relying on dock lines and dock infrastructure to rise with water or resist wind and wave loads. It is also separated from many of the collision and sinking risks created when nearby boats break loose.
LiftProfessional handling matched to the vessel and available equipment.
SupportYard-selected blocking and stands suited to the hull and site.
PrepareOwner-supplied securing equipment and vessel preparation as required by current instructions.
CoordinateClear owner contacts, access and instructions before the weather deteriorates.
What the hurricane haul-out plan is
A seasonal membership for a planned haul-out process.
Instead of beginning the search for yard space when a storm is already approaching, an approved member enters hurricane season with the Boat Yard already familiar with the vessel and a written process for requesting haul-out.
The membership creates access to that process, subject to the agreement, safe operating conditions and the Boat Yard's discretion. It does not guarantee that a vessel will be protected from damage.
First come, first served after all enrollment items are received.
Based on the vessel's full length overall, plus sales tax.
Standard haul-out, storage and other applicable yard fees are additional.
This page is a plain-language overview. The signed 2026 Hurricane Haul Out Membership Agreement controls eligibility, insurance, scheduling, charges, responsibilities and limitations.
How the program works
Reserve the plan.
Then be ready to use it.
The program replaces last-minute searching with an established process. Members still need to monitor warnings, call for an appointment and have the vessel ready before conditions become unsafe.
Complete enrollment
Membership is first come, first served. For 2026, a place is confirmed only after the Boat Yard receives the annual fee, a signed agreement and proof of insurance that meets the agreement requirements.
Watch the forecast
The owner remains responsible for monitoring National Hurricane Center warnings. If a hurricane or tropical storm warning is issued, call the Boat Yard to arrange the vessel's haul-out time.
Meet the lift time
Bring the prepared vessel to the service dock before the scheduled appointment. Late arrivals may have to be rescheduled, and another safe opening may not remain as weather approaches.
Haul and store ashore
When conditions and equipment allow, the Boat Yard hauls the vessel and provides yard space, blocking and jack stands. The plan is best-efforts storm preparation, not a guarantee against damage.

Hurricane haul-out questions
Practical answers before you enroll.
Why haul a boat out for a hurricane?
Hauling a suitable boat removes it from direct exposure to storm surge, dock movement, failed dock lines and impacts from neighboring vessels. Storage ashore still carries wind, flooding, debris and support-system risks, so professional placement and vessel preparation remain essential.
Is hurricane boat storage always safer than leaving a boat in the water?
Not for every boat, site or storm. The safest practical plan depends on vessel size and design, yard conditions, blocking and tie-down options, forecast hazards, timing, insurance requirements and available capacity. The Boat Yard must review the vessel before confirming program eligibility.
How does hurricane haulout and boat storage work?
For the 2026 season, the annual membership gives an eligible, confirmed member access to a defined scheduling and haul-out process from June 1 through November 30. When a hurricane or tropical storm warning is issued, the owner must call for an appointment. Standard haul-out, storage and other yard charges are separate from the membership fee.
How is a boat secured on land for a hurricane?
Under the 2026 agreement, the Boat Yard provides storage space, blocking and jack stands. It does not provide hooks, anchors, tie-downs, lines or rigging. Owners should confirm any additional securing equipment and preparation requirements directly with the Boat Yard and should never move supports after placement.
What must the boat owner do before haul-out?
Follow the current program instructions and deadlines. Typical preparation includes removing sails, canvas and loose deck gear; securing openings; providing keys and contacts; and confirming the vessel's dimensions, draft, weight, lift points and insurance requirements.
Does submitting the form guarantee hurricane storage?
No. The form requests current program information. Eligibility, vessel fit, capacity, confirmed membership, activation and the written program terms determine whether service is available.
